CN BLUE to open for Linkin Park’s concert in Japan!


Pop-rock band CN BLUE will be opening for Linkin Park‘s concert in Japan!

It was recently reported that CN BLUE will be performing as the opening act for Linkin Park’s concert at the MAKUHARI MESSE center near Tokyo. Linkin Park had personally asked CN BLUE to perform for them after reviewing their profile.

A representative explained, “ Linkin Park personally listened to CN BLUE’s songs and were extremely satisfied after witnessing the boys’ stable vocal capabilities and performance skills. ”

It’s common for artists who go abroad for concert tours to choose local talent for their opening acts; the fact that CN BLUE is a Korean band opening for a Japanese concert makes this particular achievement very notable.

CN BLUE’s representative added, ” This special occasion will help boost CN BLUE’s global presence. The boys are very excited for this event and are practicing hard at night to showcase an excellent performance.”

SHINee places 2nd on Oricon weekly chart, breaks Super Junior’s record


SHINee has successfully debuted in Japan, placing 2nd on the Oricon Weekly Single Chart with their debut single.

SHINee debuted in Japan on June 22nd with their single, “Replay -君は僕のEverything”. In the first week of it’s release, it sold more than 91,000 copies placing them 2nd on the July 4th Oricon weekly single chart. With this result, they surpassed sales records set by all other Korean groups who debuted in their first week including Super Junior’sBONAMANA” previous record of 59,000 copies.

Additionally, their placing of 2nd with a debuting single has tied them with other Korean artists that weekly debuted at 2nd in Japan: B2ST’s “Shock” (3/28), MBLAQ’s “Your Luv” (5/16), and Super Junior’s “BONAMANA” (6/20).

SHINee is set to participate in “SHINee Japan Debut Premium Reception Tour”, which will take them all around Japan, starting from Fukuoka on 7/22, and continuing on to Kobe on 7/23, Tokyo back-to-back on 7/27 and 7/28, Sapporo on 8/8, and ending at Nagoya on 8/11. SHINee plans to get closer to their fans in Japan through this tour.

In related news, SHINee also attended and performed at MTV Music Video Award Japan’ (VMAJ) on 6/25 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba City.

SNSD & SHINee to perform at 2011 MTV VMA Japan


The 2011 VMAJ is scheduled to be held on June 25th at Makuhari Messe and it’s been announced that Korean groups SNSD and SHINee will be performing at the event which will be hosted by famous JPOP group, AKB48. In addition, famous global icon, LADY GAGA will also be performing at the event.

This year the 2011 VMAJ (usually called Video Music Awards Japan) takes on a new meaning as the show has been labeled Video Music Aid Japan this year. MTV Japan is working closely with the Japanese Red Cross in donating 10 yen for every vote cast towards the Great Tohoku Earthquake disaster relief.

Jang Geun Suk is already receiving interest for his Japanese single


Actor Jang Geun Suk, who is planning on releasing a Japanese single in March, has ranked highly in the pre-order ranking charts.

On January 29th, Jang Geun Suk’s entertainment company, Tree Company, revealed that Jang Geun Suk’s first Japanese single has ranked 1st on a Japanese online music site, HMV.

Jang Geun Suk has already shown off his amazing vocal skills in various drama OSTs, and has received a lot of interest from Japanese fans due to the Asia Tour he did last year.

Jang Geun Suk’s Japanese representatives have revealed, “Jang Geung Suk has recieved a lot of interest because of the drama, ‘You’re Beautiful.’ Lately, K-Pop is receiving an overwhelming interest in Japan. We are very happy to announce that new Hallyu star Jang Geun Suk’s upcoming single has ranked 1st on the pre-order charts.”

On March 23rd, Jang Geun Suk wil release his first Japanese single. Following that, on March 27th, Jang Geun Suk will have a showcase with 15,000 fans at the Big Site Concert Hall.

SHINee’s Japanese website crashes moments after opening


SHINee has shown their explosive popularity in Japan once more through the opening of their official Japanese website.

On January 4th, Sanspo reported, “Moments after the opening of SHINee’s official site, the site crashed due to the mass influx of traffic.

SHINee previously performed for a 24,000 member audience during their first Japanese concert last month, and had announced that they’d be opening their official website.

The site had opened at 8PM, and within the hour, over 20,000 fans rushed to take a look, crashing the server and member registration system for two days.

Sanspo continued, “There wasn’t any other notification regarding the site’s official opening, so this is quite the exceptional feat for the group.  After the server was recovered and an official announcement was made, over 100,000 page views have been recorded within a week.  SHINee has been earning much popularity lately, as exemplified by the 100,000 members that joined the month-long ticket event for their Yoyogi Live concert.”

SHINee will be making their official Japanese debut this March.

SMTOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR to kick off in Tokyo next January!


SM Entertainment’s in-house joint concert, ’SMTOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR‘, will kick off in Tokyo on January 2011. So far, the destinations for the tour include Seoul, Los Angeles, and Shanghai.

The Tokyo stop will be held on January 25th and 26th at the National Yoyogi Stadium. This is especially exciting as it will be the first time that Korean artists from an entire company will come out to perform in Japan.

The Yoyogi Stadium houses 12,000 seats, and so 24,000 fans will be able to enjoy this large scale music event over the two nights.

Artists such as BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, SNSD, SHINee, f(x), and many other SME artists are scheduled to attend.

Super Junior promotes SUPER SHOW 3 in Japan


Earlier in the month we reported that Super Junior would add Japan as one of their destinations for their upcoming Asian Tour titled SUPER SHOW 3. The boys will hold a concert early next at the Yokohama Arena on February 18th and 19th. Although this is their 3rd Asian Tour, this will be their first time performing for Japanese fans as part of their SUPER SHOW tour.

Recently, a promotional video for their stop in Japan was revealed. They mention that when Japanese ELF’s first received news of this, they crashed the servers in Japan. They state that they will put on a great and hard working performance for fans in February of 2011. Check it out below:
